The fun doesn’t need to stop at the final whistle. There are many options for your player to continue their relationship with sport. After the conclusion of Playground Pros, you will receive an email including suggested sport organizations in your local community to consider.

In addition, our teams and leagues offer a wealth of other programs for players of all ages. Some of these programs are listed below.

NHL/ NHLPA First Shift

The NHL/NHLPA First Shift program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families by offering a low-cost entry program to hockey. The program is open to all Canadian children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old that have never previously been registered in minor hockey. On-ice sessions consist of Hockey Canada curriculum made up of fun drills that are always on the same day of the week, same time and same arena.

Jr. NBA

The Jr. NBA is a national youth basketball program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship and a love of the game of basketball in Canadian youth between the ages of 5 and 12. The focus is on fun and developing confidence and competence in enjoying physical activities. Skill development will occur through a variety of safe, challenging games and quality instruction. Jr. NBA teaches the fundamental movement skills of running, jumping, throwing, catching, balance, agility and co-ordination. The program will also work to begin and progress on the development of some of the fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, rebound and playing defense.
